What is Sonder?

The word "sonder" was coined in in 2012 by John Koenig. It describes the feeling one experiences on realising that everyone we see, everyone we interact with, is the lead character in their own story. It is this "feeling of sonder" that we hope to inspire in our writers and readers, through our "Community Collection" series of short story anthologies. These themed collections will showcase writers and entertain readers, with 10% of the profits going to an appropriate charity.

Our books will be sold primarily through Amazon, although they can be ordered from any good book shop.

If you are an author or writer, we offer you the chance to take the Author Challenge - to contribute to one of our Community Collections. If you are a reader, we offer escape and stimulation, through what we hope will become a large range of books...

The Sonder ethos is simple - it's about community and collaboration - a community of authors, contributing to a book that gives something back.

We are all about connecting authors and readers. In time, we will do this in a number of ways, but for now, we hope you enjoy writing for or reading our Community Collection anthologies.

Who are we?

We are Ruth and Tim - British, middle-aged digital nomads with a love of all things books. In early 2025, we started a new chapter in our lives - after years of planning and dreaming we now live and travel full-time in our motorhome. We are currently travelling around the coast of the UK, with a base in Dorset. This new initiative is intended to be a rewarding and enjoyable part-time project that we can manage on the move and generate a modest income. Between us we have many years experience in writing, editing, publishing and marketing and we are committed to publishing high quality books with high quality content.
