Whitby has always been a source of inspiration for writers, and this collection takes its familiar landmarks into ever stranger territory…

Stories create themselves in the shadow of the Abbey, drift through the graveyards and follow the tide into the harbour.

In these pages, a ghost ship returns for someone left behind, a night out leads to a troubling encounter, a woman hears voices in a storm, a ghost walk takes a turn its guests never expected, and sea goddesses, selkies and vampires share the town with holidaymakers who came looking for a little harmless fun.

With tales that are eerie, tender, dark and funny, Once Upon a Time in Whitby is a collection of stories shaped by the town’s history, its legends and the people who find themselves drawn to its magical shores.
